- Replace the event photo in the "Media" section
- Add a price in the Pricing section below
- At the bottom, click "Edit website seo" and enter a short event description
- Change "Product Status" from Draft -> Publish
When a show is over:
- Upload all your show photos to the "Media" section.
- Change the "Theme Template" to "past-shows"
- Under "Collections", add to "Past Shows" and remove from "Upcoming Shows"

Event Description:
SoulPatch Music Productions in association with Portland State University Jazz Department is proud to present fourteen GRAMMY award winning saxophonist/clarinetist and composer Paquito D’Rivera on Monday November 27th at 7:00 PM in Portland State University's Lincoln Performance Hall. D’Rivera will join PSU students, faculty, and guests to perform his own compositions and arrangements.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Paquito D’Rivera studied both classical and jazz music at the Havana Conservatory of Music where he met pianist Chucho Valdes. Together they co-founded the innovative musical ensemble Irakere, which also included rising trumpet star Arturo Sandoval. Blending jazz, rock, classical, and Cuban music in a fashion never heard before, Irakere took the world by storm touring internationally to great acclaim and winning their first GRAMMY in 1979.
Dissatisfied with the oppressive Cuban government, Mr. D’Rivera asked for political asylum at the US Embassy while on tour in Spain. Arriving in the States in 1980 he became somewhat of a sensation after the release of his first two solo albums, working with wide array of musicians— from jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie to classical music star Yo-Yo Ma, and appearing as a soloist with such renown orchestras like the London Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Brooklyn Philharmonic.
One of few artists to receive a GRAMMY in three different genres of music (fourteen wins total), Paquito D’Rivera is the recipient of jazz’s highest honor— NEA Jazz Master, and was awarded the National Medal for the Arts by President George W. Bush. He is also the recipient of the Carnegie Hall Lifetime Achievement Award, the Kennedy Center’s Living Jazz Legend Award, and Honorary Doctorates from Berklee College of Music and State University of New York.
Paquito D’Rivera will join the PSU’s big band under the direction of Derek Sims, the PSU jazz quintet led by George Colligan, the PSU faculty piano and strings trio with Darrell Grant, Hamilton Cheifetz, and Julia Lee, as well as local jazz luminaries and surprise guests for what promises to be an unforgettable event of multi-genre musical performance. Tickets are $15.00 for general public, $10.00 for seniors, $8.00 for students and are available online at PSU Box Office or at the door. This event was funded in part by the Regional Arts & Culture Council.
